Human Rights Day 2024: Kwadaso Education Event Highlights
The Kwadaso Municipal Education Directorate in the Ashanti Region, in collaboration with the Department of Children, held a sensitization event in the Kwadaso Municipality to commemorate Human Rights Day 2024. The event was organized by the Early Childhood Unit of the Municipal Education Directorate in Kwadaso and the Ashanti Regional Office of the Department of Children. Both institutions are members of the Regional Child Protection Committee (RCPC) in the Ashanti Region. The program was sponsored by the Geneva Office for Human Rights Education, which focuses on educating children and youth worldwide about their rights as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The Department of Children played a crucial role in mobilizing and organizing the event and also delivered the keynote address on the theme: “Equality: Reducing Inequalities and Advancing Human Rights.” The keynote address, delivered by the Ashanti Regional Director for the Department of Children, emphasized inclusiveness and non-discrimination. The event targeted children aged 3 to 8 years from various ECCD schools in the municipality. The activities included:
- A quiz competition on human rights issues
- Drama performances on child labor and education
- Choreography and dancing
- Poetry recitations on human rights abuses
This event aimed to educate and inspire young children about the importance of human rights and equality.
